LITTLE baby C, my foot!
so this morning we had our 36 week checkup. That means it is only 4 weeks until my due date. I now see the doctor every week at this point. Guess what we learned this morning? We are having a big baby. So according to the books, the baby is to be between 6 and 6.5 pounds right now. We are between 7- 7.5 pounds. So, with us going full term to our due date and baby growing at the usual pace.... that puts him at 8lb 12oz to 9 pounds for delivery. (GULP) 9 pounds.
I blame Troy's giant forehead.
Actually, my mom and my dad are both the runts in their families, but all the men on both sides of my family are really big guys. So there we are. Nothing we can do except practice our breathing and practice "active relaxation". We'll know next week or so, if my cervix is going to play nice with the timing of the continued growth of the baby or if we have to schedule a C-section. I am wanting to avoid a c-section, but again, nothing I can really do about things outside of my control. We are just happy that he is healthy and all is going well. Oh... and he finally turned and is head down. He has been breech for almost the entire pregnancy. That is good news too.
Here is our little guy as of this morning looking at us. I drew a diagram below again as I know these things are hard to read.
We had our level 2 sonogram yesterday which is just a long sonogram where they check everything about the baby's development. We saw that the baby has all 4 heart valves and they are in the right place and are the right size. We saw that his brain is developing as it should and everything is looking good - spine, organs, umbilical chord, placenta, etc. It is amazing how much they can do now.
The baby weighs 1 pound, 11 ounces. In 3 weeks he will close to double in size. CRAZY. He is kicking me lots now which is sort of fun to feel him so much but yesterday he kicked me so hard that it made me jump. That was weird. The pictures below are the latest profile and the most amazing photo of the baby's face looking at you. I drew a little outline around the face for all our single friends as I know how hard it was to know what I was looking at when friends would show me their sono pictures.
All is well here other than that. Troy and his Dad put the counters in yesterday and they are beautiful. We have to use the bathroom sink as the kitchen for the next 2 days, but after that we are good to put in the faucet and start painting. I will post photos when we wrap it up. It looks really good. I am really proud of Troy. And a special thank you again to Charlie for all the help. Not to mention he came up yesterday to work on this and it was his birthday. Happy Birthday, Poppy. We love you!
