We bought a pack for O to ride on Troy for some day hiking and have been making a point to get out and enjoy part of what makes Austin such a great city to live in. The photos are from McKinney Falls state park and Hamilton Pool. We had a great time running around and breathing in the fresh air.

Santa - Year 2

Hey everyone. Sorry it has been a while. Things are surprisingly busy for someone without a job. Troy has been swamped with work and I am swamped doing everything else. Everyone is happy and healthy so that is enough to be thankful for presently. Here is the trip to santa this year.... looks a lot like last year.

Troy went with us this year which was awesome. Osby was super excited and even had a hearty "Ho, Ho, Ho" prepared for Santa. Cut to scene 2... hour of waiting in line... fine. to be expected. Santa was actually awesome. Broke into a giant rendition of Jingle bells while the mental midgets figured out reloading the photo paper. (last years santa was HORRIBLE so good for you, Barton Creek Mall... keep this guy please.) Osby was still doing great.... being bribed with Annies Fruit snacks (our new favorite which are basically organic gummy bears, which is stupid.... stupid and delicious.) Cut to scene 3 with us putting Osby on Santa's lap and the screaming and clawing begins. awesome. They gave us the least crying photo which was a bummer. If we are going to have a crying photo... I want to one that looks like Santa is made of razor blades and Osby is fearing for his life.... which is what the other photo looked like. At least I can still put leg warmers on my son. Happy Holidays!

Fall Photos

Last year I put Osby in his costume early and took some yard photos. This year, that didn't happen because: 1) I didn't have it finished yet and 2) I was afraid to put him in costume until right before we were walking out the door. Instead, I got all the pumpkins Osby and Casey painted and put some felt faces on them and a little ribbon and presto. bango. my pumpkins are carved.

We had a fun time playing in the yard with teddy and looking all fall-like. Osby had a great time showing you he knows how to jump.

Trick or Treat

Osby was totally into Trick or Treating this year. On our way home from the party, we stopped by some of our neighbor's houses that live off our street and started our TorT. Osby did good knocking on the door. (or just saying "knock, knock") and then he would hold out his bag and say, "Treat". The kid knows what he wants... what can I say? Then we drove home and threw him in the wagon and went TorT on our street. As a side note, we should have dressed up as "parents of the year" as after 12 noon, my child only ate cake & ice cream, popsicle, and halloween candy. Dinner? nope. Nice, I know.

Jackie's party

  • Nov 6, 2009

Osby's little friend, Jackie, had her 2nd birthday party on Halloween and it was the first party he has been too. It was quite successful for having a ton of 2 year olds together. Osby can be a little bossy it seems. I don't know where he gets that nonsense from. ;) We did good getting ready for the party. I made O's costume to be just a shirt, pants and hat as to cut down on the melt down factor and that seemed to do the trick. We got him dressed just like it was any other outfit. Had to bribe him with a popsicle to get the make-up on but that worked pretty good too. Troy and I went as dog catchers - Tag 'em or we Bag 'em.

Getting ready for Halloween

Fall is such a weird concept in Texas. It doesn't really exist. Well.. that isn't really true. It will happen on a Tuesday then be hot again. Then happen on a Friday then get hot again and so on and so on. It finally cooled off for Halloween. By cooled off I mean in the 70s. YEA! Our girlfriend, Casey, came by and helped osby paint some pumpkins before Halloween. She mainly came by so I could make a dent in the mountain of stuff I have been doing. Pro bono poster here. Costumes for all three of us there. etc. etc. Thanks casey!

also we got a nice treat in the mail from Nanna and Poppy and MaMaw. A sweet little trick or treat bag that we carried around the house for days putting stuffed animals in and what not. Very cute

well... that was our names when we were as small as our kids are now. I have known Laura since we were born. Our Moms have been besties since second grade and we grew up vacationing every year together. I miss Laura. She is now in Dallas with her family and we are in Austin. We finally got our kids together for the first time today. It was a beautiful day with an old friend. (we are actually at a playground but of course our son's want to see the construction vehicles.)

Austin Zoo

Austin has a zoo. It is a small zoo and is made up of only rescued animals. There are lots of animals. Monkeys, lions, tigers, bears, etc. Half the zoo is made up of things you can feed which scores big with everyone. (Deer, Llamas, goats, etc.) Osby had a great time feeding everything until the Llamas and their crazy upper lip got a little frisky with his hands. They were way less aggressive than the goats, but I think the size of the Llamas added to it. Our friend Casey went with us. Osby had a great time playing tag with her. The other great thing was we arrved at feeding time so there was lots of activity with all the animals. Osby had a blast.

Inks Lake with Nanna and Poppy

  • Oct 10, 2009

We got up early this morning and drove up to Inks Lake where Nanna and Poppy were camping. We spent the day out there on the playground, feeding ducks and geese and generally running around and just enjoying each other. Scott and the kids came out too so the kids had a great time together too. O did great despite the 20 minute nap in the camper. It was plenty comfortable. Osby has just figured out that if he is not outside with everyone then all fun things in the universe must be going on without him. Which of course is totally true. During the week I do laundry and bills while he is asleep. you know... super fun stuff. We went for a little hike and then tried to take some photos together. HA!!!!! That isn't happening. Osby had other ideas. We had a wonderful day and are so grateful for the first "cold front". Jeans, long sleeves and jackets, oh my!

"no toys" post 2.0 (aka Mimi can't see Osby with no new toys)

  • Oct 10, 2009

so the coffee filter box on the head post made mimi cry. Oh mimi... you are such a good grandma (sucker! If he ever asks you to buy him a car, it is your own fault.)

So one day we are watching Elmo on our firetruck.... Yea... I know..... no TV before they are two years old. Not to mention I thought I would NEVER do that. Well screw that! my sanity is worth a friggin' episode of sesame street or yo gabba gabba here and there. This kid sleeps 45 minutes a day! I can't get anything done. If you think that sounds selfish... please keep it to yourself. I need to be ok with this. But I digress....

One day shortly after the post with the box on the head and Osby not having new toys because mom is out of work and low and behold, a package shows up at the door. Evidently Mimi has an in with Santa Clause and asked him to send Osby an early Christmas present. Since Osby's birthday is so close to Christmas, Santa Clause didn't see a problem with sending something early.

Guess what was in the box. Guess which kid was really happy.
